WAER Magazine is looking for talented young photographers and writers to contribute to our creative platform. Starting this September 2024, submissions are open for our first physical copy! The theme for this edition is ENIGMA. We're looking for all artistic expressions of photography, no matter the genre, as well as for literature, where we welcome everything from fiction to non-fiction; poetry to prose. WAER strives to combine words and images to create a magazine which is itself a work of art. Check all the details down below and send us your submission!

General

• You must be between 0-27 years old.

• Each submission should include a short biography (including phone number and socials) and the context of the work.

• Each work or series of works should have a title, or it should be specified that it has no title.

• There is currently no deadline, but once enough works have been submitted submissions for the first edition will close.

• Please email your submission to waermagazine@gmail.com.

• In your email fill in the subject line as either "WAER Magazine Submission: Literature" or "WAER Magazine Submission: Photography".

• Your submission will be confirmed by email, and once the editorial team has reviewed it, you will receive our response by email.

• Proposals for new editorials/work that have yet to be made are also welcome. In that case we can provide further feedback and possible guidance. 

• Plagiarism and refraining from giving just credit to all who were involved in the submitted work is not tolerated and will be dealt with accordingly. 

Writing

• Work must be in English, or translated to English.

• Work must be no more than 1500 words.

• There must be no more than 5 contributions per person (e.g. 5 poems).

• All genres are welcome (e.g. poetry, column, essay, short-story, opinion-piece).

• Your work must be unpublished (outside of social media and personal website).

• Preference is given to works that have an artistic origin or connect to art, culture, and society. 

• Preference is given to works that connect to the theme of ENIGMA.

Photography

• There must be no more than 20 contributions/images.

• All genres are welcome (e.g. nature, fashion, street, sports, portrait, macro).

• Digital/multi-media art is welcomed if the basis is photography (e.g. collage style images using photographs). 

  • Combining imagery and text/literature is encouraged.

• Your work must be unpublished (outside of social media and personal website).

• Strong preference is given to works that have an artistic origin (e.g. not commercial event photography).

• Preference is given to works that connect to the theme of ENIGMA.

• Please send your submissions in the highest quality JPG or PNG format.

Rights and conditions

• WAER has the right to publish and promote submitted work on its platform.

• The copyright and ownership of a work always remains with the creator. 

• Plagiarism and refraining from giving just credit to all who were involved in the submitted work is not tolerated and will be dealt with accordingly. 

• Work will always be credited.

• WAER will handle work with care, and not share it to third parties.

• WAER will not change any work, except clear small grammatical errors and cropping of images, without communication and mutual agreement.

• If you are below the age of 18 you must have permission from your parents/guardians to submit your work. 

• Any deviation from these rights and conditions will always be preceded by communication and mutual agreement. 

• By submitting work you agree to these rights and conditions and having read and understood them.
